Welcome to Her FI Story
A newsletter sharing real stories of women pursuing financial independence.
Financial independence looks different for everyone.
Some women are sprinting toward early retirement, while others are taking the scenic route. Some women are balancing ambitious savings goals with raising little ones, while others are going solo.
Every woman I feature has a different starting point, and a different vision and set of values that drives their journey.
In these stories, you’ll see different ways they are getting creative with their money, careers, and lives to build freedom and flexibility on their own terms. Whether that's retiring early, changing careers, or simply having the security to say "no thanks" to things that don't align with their values.
Grab a beverage and get ready to learn and be inspired by these women.

Who am I?
This newsletter is written by me, Anita Kinoshita.
I’m a part-time learning engineer and founder of The Retired Millennial, a brand that shares:
Approachable personal finance education covering topics such as intentional spending, financial independence & early retirement (FIRE), and personal finance fundamentals.
My current journey to retire in my 40s. I started investing with $25 a month, built a profitable online hobby with $0, changed careers when I reached Coast FI (without earning a six-figure salary), and now I invest 50%+ of my income.
I’m a big believer that personal finance can be simple and that anyone can use their money to live in alignment with who they are and what they value, no matter what their income is.
